Having this in mind, our products are generally priced higher than our competitors, but with the following methods below, you will find that you will achieve significant cost savings instead! In a country where labour cost is high, time is money, and with our abrasives products, we help to reduce cycle time, and gain higher efficiency,

Do take a look at some of the methods that we will use to evaluate your abrasives effciency.

MEASURING Material Removal by Weight/Rate of Removal

1. Set test parameters:
– Choose two identical work pieces.
– Establish grind time.
– label each work piece.
– Choose one machine and one operator (for consistency).

2. Weigh each work piece prior to grinding.
3. Grind work piece “one” with current supplier’s belt for a predetermined grind time. 4. Grind work piece “two” with new VSM belt for the same predetermined grind time. 5. Weigh each work piece and compare removal and finish.

Measuring Cycle Times

1. Set test parameters:
– Collect two groups of identical work pieces.
– Establish the number of work pieces to be completed.
– label each group.
– Choose one machine and one operator (for consistency). – Have a timing device available.

2. Grind group “one” with current supplier’s belt.
– Record the time it takes to process the predetermined number of work pieces.

3. Grind group “two” with the VSM test belt.
– Record the time it takes to process the predetermined number of work pieces.

4. Compare the time it takes to complete each group along with the finish of the work pieces.

Measuring cost Per Part / # of Pieces

1. Set test parameters:
– Collect two groups of identical work pieces.
– label each group.
– Choose one machine and one operator (for consistency).

2. Install a new belt from the current supplier.
– Record the number of parts completed with the belt from the current supplier.
– take the price of the current supplier’s belt and divide by the number of work pieces

completed by that belt. this will show you the current suppliers belt cost per piece.

3. Install a new VSM test belt.

– Record the number of parts completed with the belt from VSM.
– take the price of the VSM belt and divide by the number of work pieces completed by that

belt. this will show you the current suppliers belt cost per piece. 4. Compare the cost per work piece for each belt along with the finish.

Example: Cost of belt = Cost per Piece Number of Pieces Completed
